I am sure you would have found it strange that losing ones mind is (apparently) synonymous with the dissolution of the ego and thus enlightenment.
Perhaps then the whole concept of insanity is simply not possible. There is only the moving from a singular mind to a universal mind.
After all, the idea of insanity is usually wielded most heavily by those convinced that we know the answers; That the material world is a certain way and that science is the only thing that can be relied upon.
In fact, it startles me that the uncomfortable feeling I experience when I think of someone close to me or myself going ‘insane’ is simply a deep fear of losing the ideas that they/I cling to in order to make up what we know of as ourselves. This fear at it’s root is based on the fact that I already know who and what I am (i.e. I ‘have’ something to lose) however we live in a mysterious and unfathomable realm so the basis of this fear is flawed and therefore irrelevant thus I am led to believe that going insane is a natural part of the evolution of a human that is willing to live as a warrior; Not clinging to all this stuff which must one day be left behind when we pass on. And based on this I can only assume also that this unfounded fear is the reason so few beings attain true self realisation and furthermore the reason that those who do achieve this state are chastised and persecuted by ignorant and less enlightened beings.
